Thread: 512B and 4KB hard drives; can I just format both starting on 64 sector?

i've experienced problems new 4k hard drives.
i've read here how deal it:

wanted know if can format both types of hard drives starting sector 64 (or 2048, i've seen somewhere adise in web).
(taken link above):
# fdisk -u /dev/sda
number of cylinders disk set 121601.
there nothing wrong that, larger 1024,
, in setups cause problems with:
1) software runs @ boot time (e.g., old versions of lilo)
2) booting , partitioning software other oss
(e.g., dos fdisk, os/2 fdisk)

kernel still uses old table.
new table used @ next reboot.

just let know ubuntu 10.04 seems create partitions @ block 2048 default upon installation.
however, , point, after installation, if want add new drive, fdisk creates partition @ block 63 default.
know fdisk not developed ubuntu...
guess i'm going format drives/partitions on starting @ block 4096.
