Thread: Computer Freezes During POST After Install

hello all.
happy new year.
installed ubuntu studio 11.10 (oneiric ocelot) on system.
install seemed work, after install computer freezes during post.
can't boot drive, hd or optical, when hard drive installed ubuntu plugged in.
grub not load. power on post screen visible.
if unplug drive computer boots fine.
tried unplugging drive , setting dvd drive boot drive.
did not work.
tried hard drive on 2 different computers, same result.
tried install ubuntu studio on drive , same thing happened.
while booting comouter noticed hd activity light lights during post computer freezes.
computer configured with:
intel d865perl motherboard latest bios
4 gb ram
boot hd ide drive 500 gb
/boot , / formatted ext3
there 1 /swap parition on boot drive (4 gb)

so installed drive, worked fine, installed ubuntu , didn't? if go bios settings can tell pc load cd first? see if can else load?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
