Thread: Formatting with usb-booted Ubuntu

hi all,

want format hard drive, can install windows need, because that's os need music software. installed new hardware, , need format hard drive. booted ubuntu usb in order hard drive, , i'm wondering if can format hard drive there too.

if not, how can go formatting drive? preferably using usb-booted things.

cheers.

you can use gparted in ubuntu livecd/usb create ntfs partitions.

if create primary ntfs partition boot flag windows install that.
windows install blank drive, can create ntfs primary partition(s), 2 windows 7. or drive unallocated space , primary partition(s) available. if unallocated space not before extended partition, may have issues windows not extended partitions , writes partition table invalid.

have reported ntfs partition created gparted has reformated windows repaircd/usb windows 7, there have been no issues gparted ntfs partitions , older versions of windows. may related location on drive, before or after extended partition.
