Thread: new install on soft-raid 1 boots degraded

just installed 11.10 server on newly built system (home-use, vm host). system installed on 2 500 gb hdd's in software raid 1, booting takes several minutes, while normal boot time hardware+11.10 desktop w/o raid has been 30 seconds or so.

when server come up, see message booting in degraded mode, suggesting there may have been drive failure.

fdisk shows drives, configured in raid 1.

admittedly, drives different makes , though speeds similar, differ bit.

booting live cd, can check drive health/status looks good.

i've done install several times slight variations in attempt fix it, no change. help?

what /cat/proc/mdstat show you.

idea a

dmesg |grep md
