Thread: Best way to virtualize?
right have ubuntu server 10.04 installed openvpn, samba, sabnzbd, sickbeard, couchpotato, headphones, , plex media server. works except sabnzbd gives me issues. can't figure out why, keeps crashing. when crashes, hard. can solved hard reboot. so, got thinking... if create virtualmachine sabnzbd live in, might more stable thing installed on vm. also, if crashes, shouldn't take down entire system. also, wife in school , server @ desk. i'd have windows 7 installed on vm has workstation can use benefits of snapshots , not. use virtualbox, noticed there option kvm during install of ubuntu server. better use?
on side note, recommendations on getting gui run in? thinking lubuntu-desktop because looks nice , lightweight. wonder if should go out , ubuntu-desktop (likely no install recommends option).
system specs:
core 2 quad 2.4ghz
8gb ddr 800
ati hd4850 (was make shift htpc in previous life)
personally, love proxmox. it's debian based (so ubuntu), supports kvm , openvz , comes nice, simple web interface manage whole setup. run clustered in our work environment , standalone @ home. i've run hundreds of linux , windows boxes on it, , works well.
sorry hear you're still having problems sab. runs tank me, , use of other services except plex media server, because use openelec xbmc htpcs.
