Thread: Brightness Slider Doesn't Actually Alter Brightness

i'm using hp pavilion dv6tqe laptop ubuntu 11.10 / windows 7 dual-boot. ever since have installed ubuntu, have noticed neither brightness buttons on laptop, nor brightness slider in screen settings affect brightness. slider moves when press buttons, actual screen's brightness stays same. note, appears though actual brightness stuck on approximately maximum setting. in advance assistance.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
