Thread: Can't connect to the internet after switching ISP's!

so recently, dad switched on att small internet company called coppernet dsl. bought brand new actiontec gt724wgr because our old att router didn't seem compatible our new isp. told new router fix problem. nothing seems work though, dsl light light on new router, won't connect internet. no matter do! weird thing old d link dsl modem work our desktop on both operating systems, won't work ps3 or other laptop in house.

told connect internet via pppoe coppernet customer support reps, i've tried in actiontec router config, , directly ps3/pc/laptop , nothing connect. there wrong isp won't connect me internet? i've tried taking off phone line filters wall. please me! haven't had internet in house weeks!

dad said it's on coppernets end. got internet light come onto router selecting dhcp static ip or , connects internet, gives me dns error..

i'd suggest wait coppernet support tech come take look. if not convenient/possible, can try following:

on same location have chosen static ip, find boxes dns servers. coppernet's dns server addresses tech support, , enter here.

if cannot dns addresses them, can try 1 pair of following free global dnss:
a) opendns: primary: 208.67.222.222, secondary: 208.67.220.220
b) google public dns: primary: 8.8.8.8 secondary: 8.8.4.4

dns service used translate website names (eg www.google.com) ip addresses.

preferred dns server 62.56.216.9
alternate dns server 62.56.217.15

can use 1 of 3 pairs (opendns, google dns or coppernet dns) mentioned above.
