Thread: HELP. I'm Pulling out all my hair trying to remove software HELP ANYONE


i'm trying remove avast virus scan in installed deb package using dpkg -i avast4workstation_1.3.0-2_i386.deb. i'm not happy , choose remove it. easier said done learned. tried dpkg -r avast4workstation_1.3.0-2_i386.deb , told need specify specific name , not package came in. i'm have trouble locating name of file need use uninstall dam thing. perhaps i'm entering commandc wrong. i've looked in usr/bin , find nothing having avast not dot files. doing wrong. please 1 save me signifigantly vast knowledge newbie teetering on brink of ubuntu suicide.

this command should - notice, name of package needed, not name of file installed initially:

sudo apt-get purge avast4workstation
or if prefer stick "dpkg" :
code:
sudo dpkg --purge avast4workstation
