i'm glad share in forum first time

i'm new in ubuntu
install ubuntu server on machine.
need install gui ubuntu desktop
need connect pc internet
fix network cable machine don't know how can configure machine network , accessing internet

1 me plz ??

note need depend on comand line not in gui plz

whats o/p of ifconfig command?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
