Thread: Problems with Ubuntu usability& installing external software

hello forum, recent ubuntu convert. have been pleased ubuntu speed,security,looks,software etc. etc. but, have 1 problem. obscurities of penguin yes, can't seem able install downloaded applications. thing managed work truecrypt. have tried install storybox, teamspeak , avast! in cases, unable so. i'm quite applications compatible ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. have tried open them mono runtime , openjdk java runtime environment. along lines of this: [see first attachment]. openjdk doesn't startup. there i'm doing wrong? or applications bull$hit?

teamspeak have working perfectly, it's bit weird install, if want latest.

why need avast?

sorry, never heard of storybox.

can teamspeak in repos,

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
