New laptop with InDesign CS6 installed will not allow mouse to click within the fly-out windows.

at first, wouldn't allow me click on selector tool either; had press "v" on keyboard toggle it.  can open , close fly outs, mouse doesn't recognize clickable within window itself, pages, styles etc.    checked other cs6 software, , no problem in either photoshop or illustrator (didn't go beyond those).   it's new computer there no old version issues; we've uninstalled , reinstalled twice, including updates , fixes out there.     ideas?  i'm dead in water here....

win 7? large fonts set in user interface? either set them

normal or turn off aero.
