Quick Help With Titles Please

i don't use ae enough remember lot of this, please refresh me on how make black areas of title sequence transparent? also, i'm having heck of time importing either premiere sequence reference or importing ae comp premiere. both apps keep crashing when do, i'm rendering avi's out of ae , bringing premiere put on timeline. original footage xdcam ex 1920x1080 30fps

the title text preset intro animation applied. nothing else.

have confirmed text 01 nested comp contains transparency?  toggle on checkerboard switch @ bottom of comp windo display familiar photoshop checkerboard: if don't see it, don't have transparency.

 

i presume you're familiar procedure render movies out of ae slpha channels on them.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
