hi,

having problems connecting remote linux supercluster @ university ubuntu 11.04 laptop. can shh it, log in , access files, when try start needs graphical interface, such gaussian, error "gview.exe: cannot connect x server". can connect windows computer starting xming first, don't know ubuntu computer?

probably depends on universities regulations there couple of remote desktop applications available ubuntu, example vnc.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
