Thread: server lvm mdadm usage question

i'm planning server , clarify things me make decision on filesystem setup.

think i'm going using ubuntu server, 1 hdd os. there 20 2tb hdd attached via linux compatible sas controller card(s). these twenty drives show 1 volume. reason going have multiple share folders on volume cannot predict storage needs.

idea have 4 groups of raid 6 5 drives each. setup mdadm.
put 4 volume groups 1 large volume lvm.
main concern happens when drive fails?
best case scenario remove raid 6 array lv, replace failed drive, rebuild array mdadm add volume lv, no data lost. possible? or have redeclare lv , lose subsequently reformat losing data? clarification or direction can read kind of scenario helpful, google failing me. much.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
