Thread: Ubuntu Uninstall! (temporary)
i installed ubuntu (10.04 think) on desktop dual boot windows vista. has worked on 2 years fed vista going upgrade windows 7.
believe need remove ubuntu while this. re-install ubuntu later.
believe easy un-install ubuntu not know how. assist please.
no not necessary, can install win7 vista was, kill grub bootcode in mbr (master boot records - gets overwritten w7's install).
if have ubuntu 10.04 live cd handy quite easy reinstall grub mbr. , when reboot should have both ubuntu , win7 select from. hunt around storage folders info.
please post terminal output of
lower case l @ end of code. checking wubi vs separate partition set ups of dual bootingcode:sudo fdisk -l.
edit: 10.04 live cd desktop open terminal, (note: not wubi installs or ubuntu installs separate /boot partition)
replace x partition number grub's files on. fdisk command given earlier should indicate info.code:sudo mount /dev/sdax /mnt
reboot , grub should load.code:sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sda
ensure windows detected correctly, after rebooting may pay first boot ubuntu , issue command.
restart , check grub menu windows if wasn't there first time.code:sudo update-grub
