using local fonts with acrobat plugin for firefox

how can cause plugin use local fonts if embedded in pdf-file? download pdf-file , show direct firefox leads missing german special characters on screen , when printing. same file dealed reader outsite firefox going well, special charcters (ä ü ö etc.) appear on screen , on  paper. casually today downloaded pdf-file shown in firefox without error showing special characters too. reason seems file has no embedded fonts local fonts can used. have do?

 

i using reader 11.0.2.0 , up-to-date

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
