Can you copy and paste an effect such as Drop Shadow?

i'm working in illustrator cs5 , want know if possible copy , paste effect drop shadow.  example, let's create document text has drop shadow on , without effect.  next create text in different font different drop shadow effect (different settings drop shadow attributes).  later in project decide, want go , add first effect several objects and/or text in image.  there way copy effect , paste in?

 

i know can go in , manually copy settings of effect want copy, add effect new object, , re-apply effect point, there way simplify process copying effect?

dragging objects graphic styles panel allow quick access effect settings.

 

so in example after setting first text, drag graphic styles panel. later if want apply same drop shadow anything, select object , click graphic style.

 

the eyedropper tool designed copy effects clicked object selected object, hasn't been reliable.

 

there no direct way copy effects between objects other 2 methods above.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
