Importing images from memory card.

when import images memory card, images in preview colored when rendered in lr4, automatically converted black , white. made sure in import panel 'import during import'> develop settings> none.  images show in lr4 colored instance convert black , white.  first time have encountered problem. missing something.  i've checked camera settings nothing believe problem. i've been successful in using other presets under 'apply during import' > develop settings, using 'none' doesn't prevent images being converted black , white in lr4. same true importing bridge in ps-cs6. same results of images being converted black , white.  ideas.....

are sure of settings in develop module set appropriately?  happens if press shift , click reset (adobe) in develop module?  if returns image color, have inadvertently changed default settings create black , white images.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
