Thread: Adding Passthrough Application Between X11 Clients and Xserver - 10.04

use application proxy xserver on same machine. application appears xserver normal clients, records x11 traffic , passes on real xserver. (it product called xposexrecord.)

has been done on 8.04 machines modifying /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. new xserver definition created in command starts proxy xserver instead. in command proxy server passed original xserver command can start normal.

cannot determine how in 10.04. seems /etc/gdm/gdm.conf 1 of many files no longer necessary , no longer supplied. have explored 10.04 system cannot work out how achieve same arrangement of proxy xserver has been done in 8.04.

read somewhere of original configuration files still work if added 10.04 system. tried couple of variations seems /etc/gdm/gdm.conf not behave way. (it has 0 effect far can tell.)

factor seems key me cannot find anywhere in new configuration system of 10.04 command starts xserver.

command start xserver, when using gdm, configured in 10.04?

please note. have determined of change due migration of 10.04 upstart. information alone has not allowed me solve problem. need more details don't seem documented anywhere.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
