Thread: Boot won't complete

hello there, got new laptop (dell xps 15 l502x, i5 2430m 240ghz, 64 bit, 4gb ram, windows 7) on dual booted ubuntu 11.10 (my first linux foray). worked fine, 1 time tried booting ubuntu , wouldn't boot past point. retried few times, each time getting different long list of startup checks etc. last one, lot shorter previous lists took @ at least half screen:

i'm new this, , have no idea do! can please me out?

what video hardware? have dual video setup, i.e.: 1 switches card when running battery?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
