Thread: Can't install Oneiric minimal due to bad network driver

i'm trying install oneiric minimal (end result xbmc htpc) onto biostar th61 mini-itx motherboard. install starts fine, hangs quite bit due network interface driver issue.

seems, after doing lot of searching, realtek rtl8111e phy recognized installer, , r8169 driver used. problem, 8169 driver flaky , doesn't work well, whereas r8168 driver works fine.

question is, using minimal install cd, can build correct module , insert it, during install, install complete? if works, realize i'll have rebuild/recompile driver again , make work on finished installation. i'm trying find way install begin with.

i'd use nic install, except board has pci-e x16 slot video cards, , have pci nics.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
