Thread: cannot boot after upgrade

hi guys, i'm new ubuntu please me. can't nothing now. here story

on ubuntu 10.4 yesterday , os ask me upgrade important file.the process ran smoothly. asked me restart complete update. after restarted ,the screen went black although power still on.

after while ,i accidentally hit reset button. automatically turn on again screen still black. tried press power button foi 10 seconds continue turn on on own. option removed power.

sum up, , when turn laptop on, show black screen, no logo ,no boot option, cannot boot boot able disk. automatically turn on unless remove power.

can please me.i need computer right now. , sorry bad english too.

please me, i'm in need laptop. bios still working cuz can still fell warm, cannot boot livecd or respond . , don't know how install grub since can't access anything.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
