Thread: How do I get newer software on older base OS?


i apologize if has been posted already, wasn't sure how phrase issue.

have server running hardy , need install scala version 2.7 or greater. however, 1 in repos hardy version 2.2 or 2.3. i'd avoid building scala source , wondering protocol install new version on older os.

what's 'ubuntu' or 'debian' way handle this?

download deb somewhere? going put me in dependency hell?
