Thread: Jack (through QjackCtl) not working

i new @ using ardour, requires jack. didn't work first few times loaded it; ardour had 2 input options (aquire 1 , 2), both of seemed correspond how memory used in computer. regardless, got usb logitech mic work when started jack, put input microphone itself, set channel 1, , started new recording session on ardour 1 channel max under options--you can imagine how trial , error went achievement. now, i'd learn gurus.
guessed, it's not simple. i've restarted computer, jack start first time whatever options ask to, ardour not hear usb microphone (it lists again "acquire 1" , "acquire 2" dismay). when go restart jack, however, gives me following error message in message window:

all options default (and i've tried 1 channel, setting input mic, etc.) except realtime, turned off (of course, i've tried realtime on). when restart x server (ctl+alt+bkspc), jack start once more, not again thereafter, , 1 time work, ardour not recognize mic.

help! (quick note: data see data got, , , displayed symbols in message window).

edit: more news, sound isn't working atm. after logging in, turning jack on, turning ardour on, turning jack , ardour off. know restarting (x-server) fix it.

hi guys! after checking forums realized topic not among oft answered. did find http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1423874 helpful in telling me default ubuntu package jackd1, not jackd2. therefore uninstalled jackd1 , jackd2 , jackd , firewires "complete uninstall" remove faulty settings created. removed ardour. rebooted , installed jackd1-firewire, jackd1, automatically installed jackd. finally, installed ardour. @ point, qjackctl either installed, or installed it.

in case, able open , run qjackctl without problem. when ran ardour, still did not recognize microphone. closed , set input in qjackctl microphone, closed ardour, restarted jack through qjackctl, , reopened ardour. had 1 input (the microphone).

know emote for..
