Thread: mv, cp and rm slow down server

hi,
have moved our website 1 1&1 server higher spec 1&1 server. seems good, operations such mv, cp , rm take longer used seeing, , have noticable effect on speed of website. how fix problem?

you run iostat while you're performing command see if there out of ordinary. run strace if io seems ok. strace tell lot of details.

had problem when migrated old hardware new hardware , ls hanging. called redhat support , gave me dumbest answer because didn't want deal it. after half hour on redhat support, came realization wasn't going anywhere. ran strace , boom, found out hanging on ldap. turns out during move, had made changes. "undid" change , started running spiffy again.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
