Thread: VLC does not work

i have ubuntu 11.10 64 bit. when install dvd drive vlc opens nothing happens. try hit play , still nothing. have vlc 1.1.13. have search forums can't find nothing yet. can 1 help? thanks

in terminal try:
code:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
then:
code:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
and try vlc again.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
