What is the function of the checkbox in editbar?

    while analysing component see editbar has checkbox. wanted know functionality of edit bar

to select multiple paragraphs & might serves hot zone @ end of editbar enable scroll bar left or right. using keyboard command (mac) key, or ctrl (windows) key select it.  not know rest of details , usage.
