What should I use so that my gopro footage is the best quality it can be in premiere pro?

i have compressor , and gopro cineform studio, have never used gopro footage before friend has asked me project. i'm film student , i'm more on producing end, editing isn't speciality i'm new this. have no idea format/codec use footage best can possibly editing in premiere pro cs6. tried putting prores compressor , looked bit pixcelated in playback , have small screen. help/advice?

no need convert drop on timeline.
if machine cannot handle footage use cineform converter.
