Slow navigation in the Open dialog
here @ work, we've updated of our macs os x 10.8.3 (mountain lion), latest version of writing, snow leopard. has brought unwanted change in illustrator cs6's behavior.
previously, whenever opening file in illustrator, navigating through folder hundreds of files typing first few letters of file name we're after, take file. if slow so, because dialog trying generate thumbnail preview of each file hitting along way. no big deal, since hit down-arrow next "preview" dialog not try generate preview image each file selected.
now, however, preview window takes rest of open dialog , cannot closed. example, type filename "test.ai" in folder hundreds of files in it, selection stop @ first file letter "t" first letter, take 5 seconds generate preview of file, move on next file, fist 1 begins "te"—stopping @ generate preview, of course—then on "tes", etc. means can take upwards of 15–20 seconds dialog reach file need before can hit <return> on open up. please note behavior not present in indesign cs6, however.
is there any way turn off "previewing" of files highlighted in illustrator cs6's open dialog on mountain lion?
update: have tried using each of 4 different view options @ top of open dialog—thumbnail, details, list, etc.—with same result. in detail view, doesn't have preview pane, still takes several seconds move 1 file next you're typing out target filename. thoughts on causing this, then?
