Thread: 11.10 - Can't connect to samba from windows machine

i'm trying connect linux machine windows machine. unfortunately, i'm unable that.

installed samba server, , tried sharing folder "/home/dino/blah" via gui. i'm unable connect it, any changes make via gui don't stick.

tried editing smb.conf , reloading samba service, still cannot connect.

either way, when i'm prompted enter user , pass on windows machine, enter credentials , tells me they're incorrect.

missing here?

code:
[blah2] browseable = yes path = /home/dino/blah valid users = dino public = yes writable = yes read = no

i suspect have problem because samba , linux each have own password arrangements. smb.conf should have lines relating passwords kept, , method of encrypting.
if you're using user passwords under samba, set password table samba utility (see documentation, don't remember - having been in habit of copying vital bits when setting new linux installs)
