hi,

there has/had sl-6 machines running > 200 days ?

there kernel bug causes system crash when uptime goes
on 208.5 days. noted scientific linux user on sl
japanese mailing list [1].

according available info, patch [2] in kernel 3.1.5.
rhel/sl 6 affected in sense buggy code there. sl 6
has been out long enough see bug in action , wondered
if has encountered crash. searched tuv's bugzilla
have not been able find 1 looks related.

if system's uptime approaching 200 days, might want do
'planned' reboot avoid possible crashes.
so ubuntu machine more 200 days ?

i had old webservver going long time... got 100-150 days couple times. never made past that, though.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
