Thread: how to create a desktop shortcut in the launcher (unity)?

hi all,

i'm wrapping latest ubuntu install.

but, i'm having problem in unity. can't figure out how bet launcher desktop. in other words, there should hotkey or icon in launcher take me directly desktop.

how open application shortcut desktop in unity?

sorry, clicked on xubuntu, tag in original post wrong. should have said 'ubuntu'.

did find answer of sort, though not quite mouse click on launcher shortcut desktop.

when have programs open, can desktop using control-alt-d. toggles, can move , desktop easily.

found answer on #ubuntu freenode irc channel.

i'm finishing fourth ubuntu conversion (away windows), 4 cases family members , grandma loves ubuntu after living windows since day 1.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
