Thread: Setting up wired and wireless router in Ubuntu 11.10

i grubby college student switched ubuntu after years of wrathing @ windows.

have intellect install ubuntu, not use or efficiently. there life story, don't know jack linux. why here.

apt complex live in has cable connection (i think) , rooms wired cat5. have desktop ubuntu , laptop ubuntu. want setup router can run desktop , use wireless part of laptop.

have linksys model: wrt54g router ver. 6. can plug ethernet , light blink, extent of wisdom. don't know ubuntu , don't want break it. nor want brick router.

using ethernet cable can internet access, doing now. tired of switching computers ethernet cable all.

looking tech advice if out there, friend told me should ask ubuntu gods (forum) wisdom.

if can help, appreciative.

hi, appears have same problem me ,i have similar problem , know zip setting network despite on 3 days trying accomplish it.
both pcs on internet cannot see each other. appreciate response.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
