Thread: Unable to to access windows share list from 11.10

i running 11.04 , decided upgrade 11.10 doing fresh install of 64-bit ubuntu. installation went fine, find cannot access windows shares on network attached storage device trying access through network 11.10 system.

can see device wish access, , cant. if/when see it, message "unable fetch share list" when try access shares on device 11.10 system.

have computer on same network running 11.04, , not having problem accessing network storage device or shares on in question. in addition, running vmware player on 11.10 system windows 7 guest, , windows 7 guest can access shares in question on network attached storage device though host ubuntu system upon vmware player , guest windows 7 system cannot.

missing something? suggestions, anybody? there different 11.10 vs. 11.04 need aware of?

have installed samba?


right click on folder , select sharing options , share folder.if samba not installed,it install you.
might have reboot before takes effect.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
