Does PE 11 support AVCHD files on a Mac?

hi,

 

i looking @ buying friend’s macbook pro (2009)

 

he letting me borrow see if work video editing.

 

well yesterday when messing around it, found out new sony handycam records avchd files. mac doesn’t support raw avchd video playback.

 

i edit on pe 11 don’t know if pe 11 supports avchd files.

 

does pe 11 support avchd files? , if support avchd files, support them though mac doesn’t support playback?

 

is worth editing on mac having go through converting files? should stick pe 11 on pc?

 

 

 

 

 

and kinda side questions,

 

how can make mac playback files?

 

what main difference between premiere elements , premiere pro? in advance!!!

 

pre11 run on mac.  there few things not included in mac version, effects.

 

pre11 first version adobe says has full support of avchd.

 

i'm pretty sure freeware vlc media player mac play avchd.

 

premier elements 11 costs $80.  premier pro costs $600 or more.  can rent month.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
