MS Word not working since Acrobat install

i purchased , installed acrobat xi pro few days ago. when open ms word running "wait" icon. can use program minimally, extremely sluggish. tried disabling acrobat addin - no difference. tried repairing word program - no difference. tried printing adobe pdf printer (which worked fine) , surprise, running wait icon disappeared , word worked normally. next time opened word problem returned. tried removing adobe pdf printer list of printers - no difference. went original acrobat installation. can use word in limited way if select adobe pdf printer first, printing regular canon printer not function properly. i'm using windows 7 , office 2003. need please!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
