Thread: Amarok AMD64 always crashing on startup

being in possession of borked windows 7 installation, loaded amd 64 version of kubuntu oneiric on hp g42 laptop last night, , proper drivers (and cracks) installed, managed opengl working.

afternoon, decided amarok configured, involved getting music aging dell inspiron 530n onto decidely newer laptop.

getting music proved painless enough, , initial amarok scan took 45 minutes after assumed proceed ordinarily would.

wrong.

after scanned, attempted play collection, failed miserably , amarok crashed after few seconds. now, every time open amarok, crashes within few seconds. can't configure use phonon-backend-vlc.

thoughts how can amarok working again?

relevant specs follows:

intel core i3 processor, 2.26 ghz.
320 gib hdd
3 gib ram
intel i915 integrated graphics

in advance!

when apps thrash @ that, can either file bug report

thing kubuntu, kde desktop can upgraded, it's plasma workspace it's applications...

upgrade above kde version 4.7.4, once there, it's possible amarok 2.5 backports.

not if included amarok 2.5 in plasma desktop repo, after upgrading 4.7.4, see version of amarok have before adding amarok ppa...

have choices

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
