Thread: Can mdadm damage a hard drive?

hello all,

last night shoved 4 brand new 3tb hds array. mention 3tb drives because seems cause problems in linux in experience.

these drives working fine themselves. detected, volumes created using parted, etc. smart diagnostics showed healthy on disks last night.

2 of these disks have been in use month now, , 2 straight out of package.

morning woke expecting find array finished building instead have smart errors on 1 of drives healthy last night. i'm not sure drive yet struck me odd.

possible software cause damage hard drive or bad luck?

what errors get? in experience, software may cause kind of filesystem corruptions, unlikely, bad sectors using kind of software.
