i have modern desktop machine large hard drive running kubuntu 11.04 , old laptop not hard drive space running lubuntu 11.10. able access files on desktop machine laptop.

on desktop machine, have ticked "share samba" box on folders want , allowed myself full permissions.

on laptop machine, can see folders, cannot them. enter password, , nothing happens - no error message, no nothing. username , password same on both machines (but computers have different names).

have done wrong?

try using ssh put ssh server on pc can copy pc lappy.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
