Thread: Screensaver kicking in too early, killing network connection

i've got fresh xubuntu installation on laptop, , i've run problem i'm not seeing on other ubuntu system (where i'm running xubuntu, installed apt-get install xubuntu-desktop on top of plain ubuntu). problem screen saver kicking in way before it's supposed to, locking screen, , (worst of all) killing network connection. i've got lock screen turned off in screen saver settings; mode set "blank screen only" "blank after" value set 720 minutes. power management (under "advanced" settings) disabled. laptop running on utility power, not battery. if walk away laptop 5 minutes come locked screen, dead network connection, , therefore of ssh connections killed. annoying. why screen saver not honoring settings i'm giving it???
