Thread: Ubuntu never sees my HD during install

hi everyone,

reference on shuttle sx58h7 pro.

can boot off of cd or usb stick (only acpi=off) , when comes system check screen never says have 4gb free.

have tried 2 separate hd's, 240 gig ssd , 1tb regular hd, neither ever recognized.

have tried ide, ahci , raid in bios ide settings , have drives plugged 6 gb/s sata port on mobo.

ubuntu specific sata controller during intall? why can't ubuntu see hd?

most likely, 6gb/s sata port. i've seen lots of threads folks similar problems.

try connecting drives older 3gb/s port instead.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
