what benefits using desktop mail nowadays? gmail don't have leave browser check mail. thunderbird find if delete message on thunderbird still shows next time sign gmail via browswer. kind of annoying because when wake in morning have bunch of messages of spam. delte messages when login on different pc via browser still in inbox. how has notification turn blue when email benefit can see. don't see point of wasting disk space on downloading email when google lets keep them on server , when last time google had significant downtime , couldn't access specific email?

i agree you, prefer web mail on desktop application. no longer use thunderbird, or evolution. believe it's more secure, browser ssl.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
