Thread: Can't download from Ubuntu Software Center

actually, installation of xubuntu 11.10 few days old, , earlier able download package or 2 software center previously. encountering different problems.

1. common 1 message "filed download package files. check internet connections." if try second time, complains untrusted sources.

2. on couple occasions, there no "install" button. said software unavailable (maybe not said) sources. after reading postings, ran analyzer select best source. same result, , same result when switched main repository. after few iterations of rebooting, restarting app accesses software center, in case 1.

both 1 , 2 occur packages. trying download libre office. installed dropbox, did directly website, , installation weird.

computer old dell tower, thought recycle file server rsync backups. way of background, unable linux mint install on it. xubuntu installed, without network connection. has wired network only. able network working manually, , working fine throughout above. networkmanager may hosed--e.g., resolv.conf file empty except single line saying created networkmanager.
