what linux equivalent of mapping drive? example, if want icon show on desktop connection mobileme or ubuntu 1 files? can script through batch file?

i afraid compare peaches oranges. usually, when 'mapping drive', implied windows printing , sharing protocol in use, equivalent of samba in linux.

ubuntu 1 doesn't use samba, 'my mobileme' thing? use samba?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
