Thread: Forgotten settings at startup

annoying temperamental problem. i'm using gnome classic in ubuntu 11.10. when boot up, icon style incorrect, compiz settings forgotten (eg no wobbly windows) , windows appear without top bar, can't close or minimise them.

have logout , re-login , problem fixed.

don't think happens in unity not absolutely sure. ideas guys?

it may conflicting windows manager composing issue. if using 'fallback' in gnome , don't plan use unity remove packages in unity if not make sure use unity plug-in compiz.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
