i've gotten gtx 560 , seems every time install new kernel or maybe upgrade it, ubuntu can run in low graphics mode , have reinstall driver. , got driver straight nvidia's website means it's .run binary has run @ shell login. , reason widescreen lcd monitor isn't shell login friendly when driver missing means have break out backup crt monitor until finishes installing swap them again. can imagine gets old fast i'm looking solution either driver issue or widescreen shell login issue or both. appreciated.

i'm running ubuntu 10.04 64 bit.

sorry, use ati/amd cards , offer solution installing restricted drivers using repos not require reinstalling them manually every time kernel updates.

don't know if such option available nvidia cards.

should check in multimedia , video section.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
