Thread: Is it possible to speed up the boot time of Oneiric?

hi, machine booted natty in 35~s oneiric takes 75~s there way speed up. have tried "quiet splash profile" trick don't think worked use burg. help.

mostly don't believe booting speed has os, should have

1) processor speed
2) hard disk drive rpm, or better mbps reading , writing speed. believe having solid state drive can help, raid in cases improves boot time.
3) linux software buffers may better windows
4) if explain more, i'll confusing you, sorry. pretty sure more of hardware interface , compatible hdd , processor speed else. once booted, ram makes difference @ boot believe doesn't @ all.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
