hi, might shot down question, unless ask....

using php , javascript create web based database application in-house use small company. things progressing nicely.

1 of requirements members of company workforce able log system elsewhere (ie: not on local network , via internet). of course can use normal php login sort of thing, out of curiosity have following question:

bearing in mind company workers using company machines installed ubuntu myself, , therefore compliant need install, there way allow log-in via internet (to server running @ company hq) specific machines using kind of hardware recognition?

know long shot, , mac address etc, not transferred via http protocol, wondering if there alternatives available.

nothing hacker won't able forge usual way solve problem not expose web site internet, keep accessible company intranet only, , provide vpn access intranet employees.
