hello all, first time trying ubuntu , picking linux , liking greatly. well, had shutdown computer using terminal once , observed was, next time turn system on took lot of time open. half hour or something. when continued. forced reinstall it. again shut system down using search button on top right in ubuntu 11.10. experiencing same issue.
wrong ??
also, when install softwares terminal using "sudo apt-get install" command of them different when had installed them "ubuntu software center" difference between cli , gui seeing.
and.. have installed ubuntu 'wubi' paralell windows xp on desktop. , when mentioned terminal, use gnome-terminal.

hrm hrm, that's rather interesting. did ever ubuntu running again after shut down, or did power computer off , reinstall?

if , running, going wrong shutdown. if never up, guess install bad.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
