Thread: Solved my problem with internet

this how fixed problem intermittent, lost internet connection. tried listed on internet, , here resolution problem, , nothing helped. spent days trying fix this, , pretty resigned having reload entire computer. (i dual boot windows 7 , ubuntu 10.04)
sister helped me , had me fixed in 5 minutes. linux wizard, , i'm newbie, lol
okay, go system, preferences, network proxy. in network proxy preferences window, click on ignored hosts tab, in window see if have in list. looking for: *.local
if have in list, highlight it, , click "remove" close out windows, , click on browser , see if have internet connection. did immediately, , did cold boot, , has worked fine since. (i did updates right away, in case)
wanted see if else, , way, have no idea how got local hosts list.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
